«Open Doors on Science»
All over Montreal, the 24 hours of Science offers again this year lots of fun and exciting activities as well as throughout the 17 Quebec regions. It is therefore an invitation, from Friday May 6 at noon, until Saturday May 7 at the same time, to take part in some 200 different activities for youth, families, adults and seniors.
On the theme Open Doors on Science, this event celebrates the international year of chemistry, forestry and bats. The program also includes all kind of activities for fans of the environment, health, astronomy and many other scientific and technical fields.
Among others, the Montreal Neurological Institute offer a special Visit your Brain activities using some striking visual images and a real human brain while at St-Mary visitors will discover modern X Rays technologies or a virtual health visit of the XXIst century at Montreal Children Hospital.
A special chemical marathon, on food, energy, polymers or cosmetics themes, will also take place from noon to midnight at Montreal University.
We are pleased to count again on Anne Carpenter, director of the Montreal Insectarium. As she says: «The 24 hours of science is an event that allows all organizations that are related to science and technology to act as spokespersons for their own discipline during the event and to offer to the public activities that demonstrate that science is everywhere.»
The program is available online on www.science24heures.com. A very user-friendly search engine allows visitors to quickly find activities in line with their interest and build themselves a personal thematic or regional itinerary.
The vast majority of activities are free. Some last only an hour, others continue during the night. It is a festival of science to which all are invited.
This event is organized by Science pour tous, the Quebec scientific and technological culture network. For this sixth edition of 24 hours of science, dozens of museums and interpretive centers, many public and private organizations, schools, laboratories, research centers and hospitals, recreation associations, and many more have surpassed themselves to offer an exceptional program.
