Square dance season has started with two successful nights of dancing. The first club dance at our new location at Summerlea United Church in Lachine was held Friday night September 6, 2013. Corry Lowden called the dances which were enjoyed by all. There was a good turnout of returning club members, who took advantage of the occasion to exchange their stories of summer adventures with their square dancing friends.

A Fun Night was also held on the following Tuesday. There was a satisfying turnout of potential new dancers with one entire family of 8 ranging in age from about 8 to grandparents showing up. The dance drew dancers from across the West Island and Chateauguay. All of the new dancers enjoyed themselves and expressed their intention to return next week.

Fun Nights are a chance for potential new members to come out and try out square dancing for free for up to three weeks before the start of the regular class season. The guest are introduced to some of the calls and dance for two hours, in the company of more experienced dancers. Light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are served at all dances. The next Fun Nights will be held September 17, and 24th at 7:30PM at Summerlea United Church, Lachine. Everyone is welcome to attend and give it a try.
