Rain barrels: An ecological and profitable device
The City of Dorval places a great importance on the protection of the environment. As you know, ecology concerns us all and that is why the City is implementing a “Rain water program”.
The “Rain Water Program” has been developed in order for Dorval citizens to be able to salvage and capture rainwater, a free and renewable resource, using a rain barrel that will allow you to water your plants, all while respecting the environment.
By acquiring this rain barrel, you can stock the flow of this water. Rain water is ideal; it is without chlorine, it doesn’t cost anything, and will allow you to avoid wasting drinkable water. Saving water is still a new method, but changing our habits will allow us to improve the quality of our environment.
In the future, by using natural water for your gardening needs you will be a committed participant in the environment and will contribute to a better quality of life for yourself and for future generations.
Dorval residents can purchase a rain barrel for $35, available as of now, only at the Sarto Desnoyers Community Centre, 1335 Lakeshore Drive from Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 16:30. Please note there is a limit of one rain barrel per residence for life.
