Water and Fire in Montreal’s southwest neighbourhoods

Boarding takes place at the Atwater Market dock. The trip follows a four-kilometre loop, between the Saint-Gabriel and Côte-Saint-Paul locks, and lasts two hours.

During the excursion, animator-guides from Parks Canada and the two historical societies use historical capsules to interpret the many roles played by water and fire in the history of the canal and the neighbourhoods along its banks.

This national historic site, a true open-air museum, allows for a journey to the heart of this vital waterway and hydraulic energy source.

As the cradle of Canada’s industrialization, the Lachine Canal and its surroundings provide an outstanding environment for a highly enriching experience. The activity will take place rain or shine.
