The painter Martha Markowsky in demonstration
Martha Markowsky, born in Lachine, will be doing a demonstration of her oil painting techniques at Maison du Brasseur on February 16 at 7 pm and invites the public to come and see a work of art unfolding.
In November 2008, Martha was awarded by the City of Lachine for her achievements in art. Best known for her impressionistic paintings of the symphonic beauty of the orchestra in brightly coloured tuxedoes, Martha Markowsky also paints vibrant urban landscapes with the colourful innocence of children at play in old neighbourhoods, picturesque mosaics of a blend of what is here today with places that existed years ago. Another theme Martha projects are those introspectiv paintings depicting and exploring interior bar scenes, people in other lives of smoke and mirrors.

In the past years, Martha has participated in numerous group shows and solo exhibitions and is represented in major galleries across Canada. Her works are in several corporate as well as private collections including the Royal Bank, Delta Hotel, Royal Ottawa Golf & Country Club, the Ottawa Senators Hockey Association. In addition, she was elected into the Society of Canadian Artists as well as le Cercle des Artistes, Peintres et Sculpteurs du Quebec, CARFAC, Visual Arts Ontario as well as the Dorval and lachine Artists Associations.

In March, Martha Markowsky will be participating in the Toronto Art Expo.

In addition to her exhibitions, Martha teaches oil and acrylic painting with the Dorval Artists Association as well as at la Maison du brasseur in Lachine. For information: 514 637-2244.
