Lachine resident, Laura Fabiani, recently self-published her first book “Daughter of Mine,” a female fiction novel about a young woman who embarks on a journey to Italy in search of her roots.
The setting takes place in historic Gaeta, Naples, the birthplace of Fabiani’s own grandmother, as well as in Rome, where Fabiani has family and friends.

Born in Montreal, Laura Fabiani is among several authors who share two heritages—the rich Quebecois, Canadian culture mixed with an inherited ethnic background. Fabiani provides a taste of this, both in her novel, and in the NouveauWriter online magazine she created to assist aspiring and new Canadian authors succeed in their writing. Laura Fabiani holds a degree in Special Care Counseling and has worked as a psychiatric child counselor and as a special education technician at various institutions. She holds a diploma in Writing for Children and Teenagers and an advanced certificate in TESOL from the Canadian Institute of English. She owns a translation business, mainly translating medical documents from French to English. She lives with her husband and two children in Lachine.
