Marquette riding: six candidates to run in December 8 elections
Six candidates in the Marquette district will be running in the provincial elections on Monday, December 8.
Outgoing MP François Ouimet (LPQ) who is seeking a new term will run against Marc-Antoine Desjardins of the ADQ, Pequist Catherine Major of the Parti Québécois, Réjean Malette of the Green Party, Manuel Teigeiro (Québec Solidaire) and Marxist-Leninist Yves Le Seigle (Marxist-Leninist Party of Quebec).
Liberal candidate François Ouimet believes that he has “accomplished several promising projects.” His primary objective, since he became deputy for Marquette, has always been “to improve the quality of life of fellow-citizens.” He desires to continue his work.
The Pequist candidate, Catherine Major, is a student in Political Science and works in the communications field. She says she “represents true change for residents.” With several years’ experience in politics, she has worked in various community projects and is familiar with the present and future challenges of young families.
ADQ candidate Marc-Antoine Desjardins is a lawyer in administrative law and has worked in the legal department of the Société de l’assurance-automobile. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sherbrook and completed the Bar in 2005. He also studied Music and History and is involved in amateur sports and practices rowing.
Green Party candidate Réjean Malette is running for the second time in Marquette. “My training in accounting and my personal interests allow me to be a militant for the development of a strong and green economy for Quebec,” he said. Making healthy economic choices for the environment requires working towards a sustainable development. The Green Party is working full time towards this goal, while other parties are doing it only on a part-time basis.”
“In spite of the fact that it is the second election in less than two years, go out and vote, because democracy has no price”, said Réjean Malette in his message to everyone.
