LEGION LACHINE NEWS
The Wednesday afternoon pick-up darts has begun. Start time is at 1:30 p.m. Also the Wednesday night summer dart league has started. It starts at 7 p.m.
The Legion Bowling Banquet is being held on June 7. It starts at 5:30 p.m. and supper to be served at 6 p.m. Music by Greg Innes. Payment due May 28th.
The last Military Whist will be held June 2 at 1:30 p.m. Make up a goursome and join the fun.
On July 7th there will be a Strawberry Dessert Card Party at noon. Tickets are $6 and should be purchased in advance.
Just a reminder that there will be no general meetings for the months of June, July and August. But you are invited to sit in at the Executive meetings to keep up-to-date on the business of the Legion.
There will be a Father’s Day Dance and BBQ on June 14th. Music by Big Iron. More details as they become available.
The Annual Branch Golf Tournament will be held on Aug. 9th at the Laflelur Golf Club. More details as they become available.

The Western Lachine Recreation Centre will be having it’s assessment paying weekend on Sat. and Sun. May 24th and 25th at the pool offices, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Members are invited to pay their 2008 assessments. New members are also welcome. LABYRINTH WALK AT
SUMMERLEA UNITED CHURCH
The Labyrinth is an ancient tool for prayer and meditation, consisting of a winding path that begins at the periphery and leads to a central space, and then out again by the same path. A labyrinth is not designed to produce a spiritual peak experience, but to provide inner space for listening to God.
This walk will take place on Sunday, June 1st from 2-4:30 p.m. The afternoon will begin with a brief workshop (2-2:30 p.m.) followed by time for members of the community to walk the labyrinth. Socks or slippers are worn to walk the labyrinth, no outdoor shoes please. Labyrinth provided by Montreal West United Church. All are welcome. For more info call 514-634-2651.

St. Paul’s Anglican Church is holding their 13th Annual Garage and Bake Sale on June 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to many treasures, there will be a book booth and hot dog stand. A large selection of mouthwatering fudge will also be sold.
As part of this event, there will be a Pet Blessing Ceremony at 10 a.m. on the Church grounds. All creatures great and small are welcome. MUSICAL FESTIVAL FOR SOUPE MAISON

ART IN THE PARK 2008 – Sale of Members Paintings at Sarto Desnoyers, 1335 Bord du Lac will take place on Sat. June 7th and Sun. June 8th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In case of rain it will be held in Room SO23 in the Sarto Desnoyers Community Centre.
EXERCISES CLASSES AT SUMMERLEA UNITED
New sessions are starting and new participants are welcome! The circuit training course is designed for all fitness levels. Classes improve the cardiovascular system, muscular strength and endurance as well as core strength. Classes end with stretching and a relaxation period.
Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Monday evening classes are from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. until June 21st. Thursday evening classes are from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. starting May 15th to July 3rd.
Each session costs $60.00. If you register for 2 sessions the cost is $110.00 and three sessions cost $140.00. New participants can join the current classes or try a class for $7.50. Bishop Whelan Home and School congratulates the students and their families for raising $2,190 for the Nothing but Nets program. Funds were raised through our Penny Challenge, Family Night and Pledge forms. 219 mosquito nets will be purchased to help fight the spread of malaria in Africa.

Frances persuaded her husband to allow her to travel with the Voyageurs during which times she painted her famous and unique paintings. This charitable organization has existed since 1986 and provides help to a growing number of people in need in our community. Since its beginning, thoughs of hot meals have been served to recipients and many food baskets have been distributed. It is open every Tues. and Thurs. from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. to April.
