THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION LACHINE BRANCH 85/90 NEWS.
Dear Comrades, These are the kids from the Youth Dart League that will be going to play in the Nationals in Winnipeg. They are as follows, from Lachine: Ashley Gilbert, Samantha Gibbons and Jennifer Delisle. From Quebec: Joel Asselin, Melyna Maher, Philippe Rousseau and Jonathan Rousseau, and from Sherbrooke: Michael Perron. They will be leaving in May. We wish them the best of luck. There will be a Snooker and 9 ball Tournament on Apr. 26th. For snooker it will be $10 per player and 9 ball is $15 per player. Start time is at 9 a.m.. For more info contact Gordie Biggs at 514-637-8002. Comedian Joey Elias is doing a benefit show on Apr. 25th. Lasagna will be served and the cost is $20. Tickets are on sale at the bar. Reserve seats early as they are going fast. Please note that there will be adult content. The Sunday Mixed Dart League is having their banquet on Sat. May 10th. The music will be provided by Kamal Mikhall. Everyone is welcome after 8:30 p.m. with a small donation of $5. There will be a summer dart league starting on Wed., May 14th at 7 p.m. There is a sign up sheet on the board for all those who want to play. We have a spacious and beautiful hall for rent for weddings, birthdays, or anniversaries. There is a great bar area, spacious lounge, and large main hall with dance floor and seating capacity for 180 people. For any or all info contact Gordie Biggs at 514-637-8002. THE INVITATION”, A MUSICAL AT SUMMERLEA UNITED CHURCH
A lively and entertaining musical, lyrics by Howard Clark, music composed by Stephanie Coward-Yaskiw, will take place at Summerlea United Church, 225-50th Ave., Lachine on Sat., May 3rd at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. “The Invitation” is about a group of people who are invited to build the Kingdom. The Kingdom building party is not quite what many of the expect, however they do gain a sense of what is necessary to make the Realm of God become a reality. In honour of Civitan International’s 91st Anniversary , the Lachine/West Island Civitan Club is observing the month of April as “Civitan Awareness Month”. Tom Austin, President of the Lachine/West Island Civitan Club, says it is the time for Civitan Members to reflect on the history of the organization, focus on membership recruitment, and make the community aware of Civitan’s purpose and professional programs. Civitan’s purpose is to provide programs for personal and professional development while encouraging service to the worldwide community. Civitan has traditionally helped the intellectually handicapped. The Civitan Creed is generated in “Service”. The Lachine/West Island Club supports: The Lakeshore Art Show in aid of the West Island Adaptation Centre for the Intellectually Handicapped: La Vie Automme/Training in Independent Living (AVA/TIL), West Island Citizen Advocacy, WIRIH Group Homes, Battered Women’s Shelter, Cdn.
