‘Tis the season
‘Tis the season
With the season of office Christmas parties getting underway, police held a roadblock on Friday from 8:45 to 10:15 p.m. on St. Charles Boulevard at the Highway 20 exit. Police officers stopped about 100 cars. No arrests were made. In order to reduce drunk driving, police will continue to hold roadblocks throughout the holiday season.
Good eyes

Two police officers proved they had good eyes and good memories last week when they arrested a 20-year-old Kirkland resident for breaking his parole conditions.

The two officers were driving down Lancelot Road in Kirkland when they noticed two young men sitting in a parked car together. The officers recognized them, and realized the one man was not supposed to be socializing with the other, so they turned around and made the arrest.

Cash and cigarettes

Two suspects robbed a store on the corner of Pierrefonds and St-Charles boulevards early on Nov. 20. Police said both suspects are about five foot eight, 25 year-old English speakers. Upon entering the store, the first suspect, dressed in a white leather coat, black jeans and a hood, drew a silver pistol in his right hand and asked for the money in the cash register and cigarettes. The second suspect, who weighs around 160 pounds and was seen in black pants, a black cloth coat and black gloves, carried a stick. They escaped with $900 and about 10 packs of cigarettes. The clerk tending the cash register is unharmed. On the same night, a suspect tried to infiltrate another store on St. Charles Boulevard through the back door with a crowbar, but was unable to get in. The alarm rang and police arrived, discovering the back door had been severely damaged, but not broken into. No description of the suspect was provided.

Axe to grind

A robber didn’t know what he was in for when he attempted to rob a Pointe Claire Tim Hortons last Wednesday.

The suspect, a 19-year-old Dorval resident, approached the cashier in the coffee shop and told her to hand over all the cash in the register. When the cashier brushed it off as a joke, the suspect showed her he was armed with an axe.

As the cashier was giving the money to the suspect, another employee saw what was going on and, with the help of other people in the coffee shop, disarmed the man. They wrestled him to the ground and called police, who arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.

The 19-year-old was known to police. He was arrested for armed robbery and breach of conditions. He was also under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Bucks taken at Starbuck's

Last Friday, a 28 year old woman was pickpocketed after being stalked by a man and a woman who were standing in line behind her at first and then took a seat near her. She thought it strange that they seemed not to be talking to each other. The couple was gone by the time she realized her wallet was missing.

Both suspects are said to be between 30 to 40 years old, with dark hair, and about 5 "7 tall. The man is clean-shaven and the woman wears a ponytail. Police advised that pickpocketing in restaurants is on the increase in the area.
