Re-development project for exercise room
Financial aid that will go towards re-developing an exercise room at Dorval’s Westwood Sports Centre was announced by Marquette MNA François Ouimet. He was with Dorval Mayor Edgar Rouleau and Councillor Margo Héron when he made this announcement.
This re-development project will change the ventilation and lighting systems, install lockers and mirrors, put a synthetic floor, lay out the exercise rooms and install a net fixed to the wall for hitting the hockey puck. This project was approved in principle by Mrs. Michelle Courchesne, Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports. This approval consists of the maximum assistance amount of 50% of eligible expenses up to $68,609.

“I am very pleased that this re-development work for the Westwood Centre will soon be a reality, thanks to the efforts of key community workers. It will enable all of our youth to engage in physical activities and in sports in the best of conditions. For me and for the government of Quebec, physical activities for our youth are a fundamental priority for their health and well-being”, said the Marquette MNA.

“My colleagues in the Council and myself are proud of our capability to offer our athletic youth in Dorval a quality sports centre where they can benefit from the best training conditions. The health of our youth begins in the practice of sports; we’re very happy that we can take advantage of such a centre that will encourage young people to remain active”, Dorval City Mayor Edgar Rouleau pointed out.

This subsidy comes from the Programme de soutien aux installations sportives et récréatives (support programme for sports and recreational facilities) which is aimed to build, renovate, re-develop and standardise sports and recreational facilities.
