Dare to Dream at L’Académie de Danse Classique
If you love movement and music there is a class for you at L’Académie de Danse Classique of Lachine.
Founded in 1980, L’Académie de Danse Classique has become a highly respected training center for aspiring young professionals and recreational dancers alike. Artistic director Linda Marchand says that the main goal is to feed people’s passion for dance, regardless of age or ability. All it takes is a dream.

Because L’Académie offers 12 levels of ballet and maintains small class sizes, teachers are able to focus on the individual needs of every student and nurture their talents.

Contemporary dance and ballet jazz are also offered as part of the school’s curriculum. ‘‘It is essential to have a well-rounded dance education,’’ says Marchand. However, she also stresses the necessity of first having a solid base of classical ballet before moving on to other styles of dance. “Ballet provides the most essential foundation for just about every other type of dance.”
L’Académie de Danse Classique will also continue to offer classical ballet for adults.

The adult ballet class, taught by Katia Lacelle, has become very popular. These are wonderful classes for those who are looking for an alternative way to get in shape. The health benefits are enormous. Participants will see an increase in strength, flexibility and endurance while enjoying the opportunity to move to the music of a wonderful pianist.

In keeping with L’Académie’s global approach to dance education, all students are given the opportunity to participate in polished and expertly mounted annual performances as well as internationally recognized examinations. In June, students from L’Académie were successfully examined in the Cecchetti method of ballet, giving them internationally recognized certification.

Located along the shores of the Lachine Canal, L’Académie de Danse Classique’s sunlit studios are fully equipped with barres, mirrors and a piano. The location is truly inspiring.

Registration will be held at La Maison du Brasseur, 2901 Blvd. St-Joseph, on September 11th and 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. For information: 514 695-7475.
