August 23 and 24: Rendez-Vous 2008

There will be exhibits, demonstrations and plenty of advice on how everyone can contribute to improving the environment. The City of Dorval will also be proudly displaying many of its own recent initiatives.

Also new this year is an opportunity for young and old alike to make friends with horses from the Royal Mounted Police (Saturday) and the Montreal Mounted Police (Sunday) as well as meet their riders.

As always, there will be visual and performing art for everyone… hands-on activities for youngsters, live urban art, and kiosks with thirty local artists and artisans offering their wares. Onstage entertainment includes performances by the Preville Orchestra (big band), Crystal Creek (country), Voo Doo Scat (jazz, bossa nova and blues), Liederwolfe (opera) and the Marunczak Ukrainian Ensemble.

For those looking to take up a new hobby, there will be many community associations on hand to talk about local history, astronomy, woodturning, weaving, ship modelling, stamp collecting, pottery, photography, model aeronautics and Tai chi. The Scouts will hold their annual campfire and sing-along Saturday evening. Sunday will feature a perennial crowd pleaser – the antique and classic car show.

Either day, visitors are invited to bring a picnic or purchase a snack for a modest fee (corn on the cob, hot dogs, hamburgers, samosas and soft drinks.) On Saturday, relax and enjoy the entertainment in the Tea Salon overlooking the grounds.

Dorval residents are reminded to pick up their entry forms for this year’s cooking contest “The Best Zucchini Recipe” and for the flower arranging contest- available in all municipal buildings.
