Between Avila-Legault Street, including the intersection, and Thorncrest
The City of Montreal will undertake, in the upcoming days and as part of its arterial road mandate, major repair work on the road, safety islands, sidewalks, and curbs on Cardinal Avenue, between Avila-Legault Street, including the intersection, and Thorncrest Avenue. A bicycle path, which will connect to des Sources Boulevard, will also be built.
The construction work should begin during the week of July 7 with, in its first stage, the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs, and should last several weeks.
Alternate routes
During the road work, which will follow the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs, the work zone on Cardinal Avenue will be completely closed for a number of weeks. Alternate routes will be indicated with appropriate signage. In other words, residents of the north-sector will have to use alternate routes to by-pass the work zone on Cardinal Avenue.

Parking permits will be issued to residents of Cardinal Avenue directly affected by the construction work. Permit holders must, however, respect all other prohibitions, such as bus stops, fire hydrants, etc. Permits are available at the office of the Technical Support Division of the City of Dorval, 60 Martin Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Particular care
Residents who have an automatic sprinkler system or any other underground system located near the sidewalk or curb are asked to advise the Technical Support Division of Dorval at 514 633-4244.

This will allow the City to provide the contractor with a list of addresses where particular care should be taken during the excavation. Furthermore, it is important that residents identify with a marker the location of the sprinkler heads located on their property early on in the construction process.

‘’We understand the inconveniences that work of this nature may cause. In cooperation with the City of Montreal, we will do our utmost to minimize their impact on the daily activities of our residents,’’ said the Technical Support Division of the City of Dorval.
