60th anniversary of Lachine Museum

Until December 21, the Lachine Museum holds an exhibit on the theme “Un musée qui a du coffre” (a museum with treasure boxes) to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

To celebrate the occasion, many special events have been organised. One such event is linking up with elementary schools to ask them to put objects in a time capsule. The exhibit has chosen the title “Un musée qui a du coffre!” because its driving theme is a box of treasures. It will abound in ideas and discoveries in the form of historical objects, naturalised specimens, works of arts, photographs - a holographic piece of work, a bison’s head, an American Indian head covering, a velocipede...In addition to celebrating the museum’s 60th anniversary, the exhibit will be reminiscent of history and evolution in general and that of Lachine’s as well.

May 25 is open house day and Lachine Museum will participate with the other museums. It will be a day that promises to be bursting with various activities from beginning to end – 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. For this, the Borough is interested in having volunteers to welcome and direct museum visitors and to keep a close watch on museum pieces.
