Dorval resident Khalila Glanville on Canadian Idol's Top-Ten
A Dorval resident, the young singer Khalila Glanville achieved quite a feat when she managed to make the Top 10 in the 5th season of Canadian Idol, shown on CTV each week.
On July 12, Khalila, who is an early childhood educator in Lachine, travelled from Toronto to Montreal for a family party celebrating her 24th birthday. The CTV cameras were everywhere and Canadian viewers were able to see some of what went on during Tuesday's show.
A native of Montreal, she admits that the Canadian Idol competition has changed her life for the better and she wants to take advantage of all opportunities that will come her way. "I'm not afraid to try new things and I have a lot of confidence in myself."
Originally from Jamaica, her parents John and Veronica Glanville arrived in Montreal in 1975 and lived in LaSalle for a number of years before moving to Dorval. She’s the only girl in a family that counts five boys.
"We're very proud of her. She's been singing since she was a young girl and she adores it," explain her parents, John and Veronica. "She started singing in church choir and hasn't stopped since. We believe that she'll be able to have a singing career, even if she doesn't win Canadian Idol."
