Members of Council expressed their support of the recriminations made by Dorval residents in that regard and officially asked railway operators CN and CP to reduce the speed of trains traveling through Dorval during the evenings and overnight, in order that the noise level be judged acceptable by the nearby residents and hotel clientele.
The City of Dorval receives frequent complaints about passing trains, especially those during the evening and overnight, causing noise and vibrations, which disrupt the peace and sleep of its residents and hotel clientele. Furthermore, the speed of the trains also causes more and more damage to the City’s infrastructures.
A copy of the Council resolution was also forwarded to Transports Canada, the member of Parliament for the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce/Lachine circumscription, the Montreal agglomeration, as well as to the cities of Pointe-Claire, Beaconsfield, Kirkland, Baie-d’Urfé, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, and the Borough of Lachine.
Dorval asks for a reduction of noise generated by trains
The Council of the City of Dorval adopted at its meeting held on September 22 a resolution expressing to the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific railways its expectations concerning the reduction of noise generated by trains on its territory.
